WHITACRE , David Martin , 1943 - ENDOSULFAN METABOLISM IN TEMPERATURE - STRESSED RATS

چکیده
This project consisted of two separate studies. The first was conducted with the two isomers of endo14 sulfan and three of its metabolites, the other with C technical endosulfan. The primary objective of the first study was to examine qualitatively and quantitatively differences in toxicant metabolism among rats subjected to low, normal, and high temperatures. Young adult, male rats were dosed orally with endosulfan I or II and placed in metabolism units designed to collect feces and urine separately. Pairs of animals with controls thus treated, were subjected o for twenty four hours, in different tests to either 15 C, 25° C or 35° C ambient temperatures while metabolizing the administered doses. At the end of each study, organs, tissues and excreta were collected from all animals, extracted, and analyzed using gas and thin layer chroma tography. To examine further the scheme of endosulfan metabo lism under temperature stress conditions, endosulfan diol, lactone and alpha-hydroxy ether were administered to rats,

اثر استرس روانی مزمن بر متابولیسم کربوهیدرات در موش صحرایی
Background : Several studies have shown that stress has major effects on carbohydrate metabolism. There are some evidences suggesting that stress may induce type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The effects of psychological stress however need to be investigated. The present study has investigated the role of chronic psychological stress on carbohydrate metabolism in male rats. Materials and met...
متن کاملModulatory Effect of Vitamin C on Genotoxic Effect of Endosulfan in Developing Albino Rats
The genotoxic effect of endosulfan and the modulatory effect of vitamin C in growing albino rats were studied by bone marrow micronucleus assay. Seven days old male Wistar rats were treated with 3, 6, 9, 12mg/kg Endosulfan orally (10 pups/group),for up to 60 days, at intervals of 24h. For 2 more groups (n=10/group), Endosulfan 9mg/kg and 12mg/kg was administered along with vitamin C (20mg/kg). ...
متن کاملEvaluating the Effect of Vitamins E and C on Sexual Cell Lineages in Adult Male Rats under Oxidative Stress Induced by Endosulfan Consumption
Background & Objective: Endosulfan is one of the strong insecticides used in agriculture. This toxin is absorbed by inhalation and skin. Endosulfan has side effects such as infertility in men. This study surveys the effect of vitamins E and C on preventing the harmful effects of Endosulfan on spermatogenesis in adult male rats. Materials & Methods: Adult male rats (200-250 g) from Wistar...
متن کاملProtective Effect of Vitamins E and C on Endosulfan-Induced Reproductive Toxicityin Male Rats
Background: The role of oxidative stress in endosulfan-induced reproductive toxicity has been implicated. This study was performed to evaluate the possible protective effect of vitamins E and C, against endosulfan-induced reproductive toxicity in rats. Methods: Fifty adult male Sprague–Dawley rats were randomly divided into five groups (n=10 each). The groups included a control receivin...
متن کاملStereoselective metabolism of endosulfan by human liver microsomes and human cytochrome P450 isoforms.
Endosulfan (6,7,8,9,10,10-hexachloro-1,5,5a,6,9,9a-hexahydro-6,9-methano-2,3,4-benzo(e)dioxathiepin-3-oxide) is a broad-spectrum chlorinated cyclodiene insecticide. This study was performed to elucidate the stereoselective metabolism of endosulfan in human liver microsomes and to characterize the cytochrome P450 (P450) enzymes that are involved in the metabolism of endosulfan. Human liver micro...
